Feature & Media Event: Chris Paul Delivers Big Assist Off the Court in Portland

Published on

Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers star point guard, joined State Farm and Jordan Brand to pay a special visit to students at Alder Elementary on Wednesday morning before his tilt with the hometown Trailblazers.

They teamed up to donate state of the art computer equipment to the school as part of the Exist to Assist community program. During the visit Paul took time to tour the school, address the students at their morning assembly and assist a few children in their new computer lab.

"Education is the key to a level playing field," Paul said to a group of students during the morning assembly in the gymnasium. " But hard work and dedication are keys to achieving your goals."

I Have a Dream Oregon (IHAD) helped connect the Exist to Assist team with Alder Elementary. IHAD formed a partnership with the school district to make Alder the nation's first Dreamer School with a goal to help every Alder elementary student receive a college education.

IHAD's CEO, Mark Langseth, was on hand to thank Chris, State Farm and Jordan Brand. "We have got to remove poverty barriers so these kids are able to focus in the classroom," Langseth said. "It takes the entire community rallying around our children and the support of these partners will leave a lasting impression."

The Chris Paul Foundation, State Farm and Jordan Brand made similar donations in the cities of Chicago, Los Angeles and in Paul's home state of North Carolina.

RESULTS SUMMARY:

11 media outlets (Including: Fox Sports, SB Nation, local ABC/NBC/CBS affiliates and local radio) produced stories about the Portland event and the campaign plan was used as a template for promoting Exist to Assist in other cities.
