News Release: Protect the Protectors
Hilo, Hawaii – Each day hundreds of first responders leave their homes to protect the people in their community. They dedicate their lives to keeping us safe and on Monday the favor was returned.
State Farm and Canary brought Protect the Protectors to Hawaii by donating 500 Canary devices to the Hawaii Fire Department to keep their homes and families safe while they are on the job.
“Protect the Protectors is our way to show appreciation of those who serve their community,” said Kim Hahn, State Farm Agency Sales Leader. “These brave men and women keep us safe every day and deserve the peace of mind that their home and family are secure while they protect our community.”
Fire Chief Darren Rosario spoke at the ceremony and applauded the work of Hawai’i’s Firefighters. He noted that some firefighters have experienced personal losses due to fire, flood and break-ins. He was grateful for the assurance the Canary Home Security systems will provide the Big Island’s first responders while they are on duty.
Mayor Harry Kim, State Farm agents and representatives from Canary passed out the security systems to first responders in attendance. The total donation of security systems is worth $100,000.
Canary is the all-in-one home security system controlled from your phone. It has HD video/audio, built-in siren, and sensors for temperature, humidity and air quality. This system has caught several burglaries, gas leaks, theft and arson since launching in 2015.
It even caught two suspects breaking into a Kansas City firefighter’s home shortly after he received the donation: Ryan Koehler's Story.
